Code of Conduct
Scorpions Basketball Academy is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members.
The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.
Therefore, we encourage to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that may have about any aspect of Scorpions Basketball.
Scorpions Basketball expects to abide by the following Code of Conducts:

Members of Scorpions Basketball Academy are expected to abide to the Code of Conduct and the following expectations:

As a matter of courtesy, it is agreed that in the event of a player wishing to leave or move to another team, the players parent/carer (if under 18) must make their decision known to us with at least 14 days notice.

You must play within the rules and respect officials/coaches and their decisions. You are not allowed to use social media to comment on these decisions, and should not make any reference both verbally or within social media which puts the club or its members in bad light.

You must keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform the coach or team manager with at least 7 days notice if you are unable to attend or if you are going to be late keep the coach or team manager regularly updated.

Failure to confirm attendance within 7 days to each game or failure to turn up once confirmed, will result in covering any fines that occur, this includes the fines from Basketball England when unable to field enough players and the game has resulted in being forfeited.

You must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

You must wear the correct uniform stated by the coach for training sessions. In competition we must abide by the FIBA rules (noted below) and we request our players to:

Wear Club T-shirt to games

Attempt to Keep playing vest tucked in at all times (4.3.1)

Players must wear trainers suitable for basketball, these can be any colour combination, but left and right shoes must match. No flashing lights, reflective material or other adornments are permitted (4.4.3)

Players to wear visible socks (4.3.1)

If a player decided to wear compression sleeves on the arms or legs it must be the same colour for all team members (4.4.2)

If a player decides to wear headgear it must be the same colour as the playing kit. The headgear shall not cover any part of the face entirely or partially (eyes, nose, lips etc) and shall not be dangerous to the player wearing it and/or to other players (4.4.2)

Non-coloured transparent mouth guard (4.4.2)

Wristbands maximum of 10cm wide textile material of the same colour as the playing kit (4.4.2)

Taping of the arms, shoulders, legs etc must be the same colour or white, but all players on the team must wear the same colour (4.4.2)

Ankle braces to be same colour for all players, usually Black colour (4.4.2)

You are not allowed to consume any banned substances listed by FIBA Doping Policy and information on WADA website.

Members are not allowed to smoke or drink alcohol while wearing club uniform or whilst representing the club at competitions.

Any players who need to take medication that is included in banned substances must complete a TUE Application Form.

Players must abide to drug testing procedures by the NGB.

You must pay any fees for training, competitions or events promptly.

You must follow the coaches’ instructions and at all times value their decisions.
